NQT Programme & Passage
At Chorlton High School we have an extensive NQT programme which helps staff to develop in all aspects of being a new teacher and underpins our core values. This means that we ensure that our NQTs are Successful, Creative and Happy in the same way that we ensure our learners are. The NQT programme comprises of expert mentor support, fortnightly training sessions (see NQT programme for a break down of these inputs), a residential course and many opportunities to observe other staff, be coached, video lessons and work with students to improve teaching. NQT provision at Chorlton High has been praised across Manchester and we lead in the development of Newly Qualified Teachers, so much so that we offer our training programme out to neighbouring High School’s new staff to benefit from.
TS Leaders
At Chorlton High School we value the input of students into all aspects of school life. We have extremely active student councils and a range of student leaders across subjects, sports and Arts. We also want to ensure that students have an input into the most important aspects of their school life too….their lessons and the Training School Leader team has been trained to observe lessons, feedback to teachers and coach teachers to meet student needs when planning and delivering their lessons. TS Leaders play a vital role in the Training School; working with trainee teachers and NQTs, giving presentations to visitors about our school and working with staff to keep teaching and learning at the cutting edge of education.

IIT provision at Chorlton High School has been rated as excellent and outstanding by the Universities with whom we regularly work and by the trainees experiencing teaching here for the first time. Our programme of training is extensive and enables trainees to access all aspects of being a professional. We help a large number of trainees to gain experience in the classroom and enable them to progress during their time at Chorlton High. Our expert mentors and Training School support team work to ensure that trainees have the most productive placements possible.
