15 November 2021
On the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, we observed a two-minute silence in honour of the fallen, in remembrance of their sacrifice and in hope for a peaceful future.
A solitary trumpeter resolutely broke the stillness. Echoing ‘The Last Post’ along the corridors and classrooms of our school. Our reception was quietly transformed by a shower of poppies, coloured brightly by students with individual messages of thanks, remembrance, and hope.
Six of our students made the short walk to Southern Cemetery, as representatives of Chorlton High, to attend an Armistice Day service, lay a poppy wreath, and participated in a beautifully observed silence.
