Be the Change

Dirty air makes a major contribution to ill health and everyone is at risk. Some of the most vulnerable people, and hardest hit, include children.

Our children.

Air pollution can harm our health at every stage of life, it especially affects schoolchildren as their immune systems develop and their organs grow. Due to their size, they are often close to sources of air pollution like car exhausts and exposure can lead to childhood asthma, aggravate asthma attacks, lung damage and a lifetime of health problems.

The good news is, we can all make small changes to help clean up our air and help protect our families.

And schools can play an important role.

Our Student Council recently met to begin developing a video campaign to highlight this issue, encourage change, and support individuals and groups to make a change. During the meeting, students discussed their initial thoughts and ideas on how they can encourage walking, cycling and car sharing to help tackle car emissions within our local community.
