Blue Box Theatre 20th Anniversary

For 20 years, the Blue Box Theatre has encapsulated a very singular ambition; to provide opportunities, without barrier, for our young people to experience, enjoy and express themselves. Opening in 2004, with performances by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Covent Garden Street Opera Company and a host of student (then Oakwood) led productions, the Blue Box established itself - centre most to our creative heart, enabling two decades of exceptional success and extraordinary joy. 

Zoe Morris, Headteacher, described the theatre as ‘an amazing space for our young people’ outlining the importance for our students to ‘get the opportunity to feel the joy of being involved in the Arts!’.

With up to 30-40 productions, concerts, events and workshops happening per year, it is befitting we continue to enrich the story of the Blue Box with a week of musical performances, plays and dance.

Monday 11th March - Refugee Play
Developed, created, and directed by two Year 9 students, a play highlighting the plight of refugees.
4.30pm start. Free entry but cash donations for Refugee Aid Chorlton are welcome.

Tuesday 12th March - Year 9 Arts Elective play, Crime of the Century
Year 9 Arts Elective Drama students take part in a play focussing on knife crime and county lines.
Free of charge.

Wednesday 13th March – Spring Dance Show
Spring Dance show featuring work from all Year groups, created in class, extra-curricular clubs, and in students’ own time. Work also includes three pieces presented by visiting choreographers!
6.00pm start. £5 adults, £3 concessions. Tickets can be purchased at ticket source.

Thursday 14th March - Spring Music Show
A celebration of musical talent with students from Years 9 and 10.
6.00pm start. £5 adults, £3 concessions. Tickets can be purchased at ticket source.
