As part of our Year of Reading, we are promoting Ghost Boys by Jewell Parker Rhodes as our Whole School Book this half term.

A poignant and gripping story about how children and families face the complexities of race in today's world.

Ghost Boys is a heart-breaking and powerful story about a black boy killed by a white police officer.

Our Whole School Book is available to all our students and staff, and is used to highlight a particular pertinent issue, in the case of Ghost Boys, drawing connections with real-life history and the Black Lives Matter movement in America. We will encourage our students to discuss any thoughts they may have after reading the book, and look to highlight accessible areas in our curriculum where we may explore their questions further.

Ghost boys is a very accessible book and we have received an overwhelming positive response from the students who have already read it.
