Image of Learning Journey first steps

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is with great pleasure that we welcome your child on the start of their journey with us at Chorlton High School. We are delighted that you have entrusted us with their continued education and promise that we will do all that we possibly can to ensure that they have a successful, creative and happy time with us.

Our Transition Team has been working hard, planning for a smooth and successful transition from Year 6 into Year 7. All staff assigned to the transition process are very experienced in supporting new students and know the school well.

Induction Day will take place on Thursday 6th July. On this date, all our future students will experience an exciting day in school with their new year group. You will also be invited to an evening of information for parents and carers. For selected students we will also be running our Friendship Day on Tuesday 20th June. This is an invitation only day for pupils who come to us in small numbers from primary schools that we have not previously run outreach work in.

We also wanted to reassure you that conversations between our Transition Team and primary teachers have begun. During these conversations we receive invaluable information on your child, where they are up to in their learning and how we can support them in their move to secondary school.

During the summer term we will be planning other elements of transition that we will want to share with you and the best way we can contact you is via email. If you have received an email from the school, then we have your details. However, if you are receiving this for the first time via post then we would ask you to please supply the school with an up to date email address. You can do this by emailing us stating your child’s name and year group (Year 6) at admin@chorltonhigh.manchester.sch.uk.

As mentioned above, in the next part of the transition process the school will be collecting valuable information regarding your child via our data management system - Arbor. Parents will be given access to this in early June. It is really important that parents log into Arbor and compete their child’s information by the end of June. We will email further instructions when this is available to you. We appreciate your time completing this.

You can also learn more about the school through our social media platforms. It would be wonderful if parents wanted to follow us on Twitter @chorltonhigh and Instagram @chorltonhighschool to see some of the activities that we are currently encouraging students to do.

We are really looking forward to meeting you and your child very soon.

Kind regards,
Amy Henderson
Assistant Headteacher
