Starting Year 7 at Chorlton High School is more than just a new school year—it’s the beginning of belonging.
We know that the move to secondary school is a big moment for families. That’s why our transition programme is designed to welcome every child—and every parent—into our vibrant, inclusive community. At CHS, we believe that strong partnerships with families are the foundation of student success. From Year 5 onwards, we offer a rich programme of events and communications that help every child feel confident, connected, and ready to thrive.

Ongoing Support and Celebration
Our friendly Year 7 'Buddies' will visit primary schools to offer a welcoming student perspective on Chorlton High life. They'll be friendly faces ready to help new students feel welcome and settle in when they arrive.

This special day is primarily for students joining from primary schools where only a few children are coming to Chorlton High, giving them a great chance to make friends early. They will learn together and explore this year's 'Read Manchester' Transition book. (This event is invite-only; we will contact you directly if your child is invited).

For students to enjoy a happy start at Chorlton High it is vital we have all parental contact information.
To provide this, parents will be sent their log in details for ARBOR, our data management system. You will receive these details via email from June onwards.
Please ensure you have provided all requested information via ARBOR, by the date above.
This is your child's first exciting experience as a Chorlton High student! They will meet their tutor group, attend an assembly, participate in lessons, and have lunch together. Please ensure your child arrives on time at the school reception. We will send you full details nearer the time. It promises to be a creative, happy, and successful day for them.

This evening is specifically for you. It's your opportunity to meet other parents/carers, chat with your child's new teachers, and ask any questions you may have. We see this as your official welcome to the CHS community! The event takes place in our Blue Box Theatre (please enter via school reception). We will email you the exact timings closer to the date.

Your Child's First Official Day! Please ensure your child arrives by 8:30 am sharp in their full school uniform, ready to start their exciting CHS learning journey.
We look forward to welcoming your child and seeing them embark on their new adventure with us!

Whether it’s through performances, parent forums, or informal chats at events, we want every parent to feel part of our school.
We’re proud to offer targeted support if this is required and we’re always looking for ways to deepen our partnership with families.
Together, we build a community where every child—and every parent—belongs.
