Extra-Curricular at Chorlton High School: Opportunities Beyond the Classroom
At Chorlton High School our extra-curricular programme is a vibrant aspect of school life, offering students the chance to explore their passions, develop new skills, and build friendships that last a lifetime. With over 40 clubs running after school each week, there truly is something for everyone — from sports and performing arts to STEM, creative writing, debate, and cultural societies.
Our programme is dynamic and changes termly, ensuring fresh opportunities and exciting challenges throughout the year. This means students can try something new each term, discover hidden talents, and broaden their horizons. Whether it’s joining a football team, performing in a school production, coding in a tech club, or taking part in art workshops, every student can find an activity that inspires them.
Beyond after-school clubs, we also provide library access and revision classes before and after school, giving students a quiet space to study, read, and prepare for success. These sessions help students develop independence and confidence in their learning, supported by staff who are always on hand to guide and encourage.
Our aim is to develop learners who are confident, resilient, and well-rounded citizens — young people who understand the world’s communities and are ready to discover their place in it. Extra-curricular opportunities play a vital role in achieving this vision. They allow students to develop qualities such as teamwork, leadership, creativity, and resilience, which not only enhance academic achievement but also prepare them for future education and employment.
Please encourage your child to embrace the vast array of opportunities available to them at Chorlton High School by attending at least one extra-curricular activity, supporting their community pledge, deepening their skills and extending their subject knowledge. These experiences will help them grow as individuals, build confidence, and create memories that last a lifetime.
Our aim is to nurture and develop each student. We therefore allow them to take part in a range of Extended Learning Experiences (ELE Days) where we collapse the regular timetable and offer a range of creative and exciting opportunities for our students.
We seize the opportunity to deliver key elements of our Life Skills curriculum through these days allowing economic well-being and financial capability, citizenship and personal health and well-being to be a central focus over the days. These innovative and exciting days not only develop learning and foster creativity, but also widen students' experiences and open up new horizons and opportunities to discover talents, passions and hobbies that they may never have considered before. We also aim to give the students real life experiences and foster opportunities for them to work with a range of experts and practitioners from the local community and beyond.
