Chorlton High School students embarked on an exciting trip to Paris and Parc Asterix in 2025. Despite an early 3:45 am departure from Chorlton High School, the students were full of excitement for the journey to Paris.
The first day involved a smooth ferry crossing from Dover to Calais, which gave students the time to enjoy the ship's amenities, including going out on deck, visiting the shops, and charging up their phones. The group proceeded to their hotel in Magny-le-Hongre, near Disneyland Paris, for a well-deserved rest after a long day of travel.
Day two was dedicated to exploring Paris. Although a fire in central Paris caused some delays, the journey into the city offered glimpses of the Stade de France and the Eiffel Tower. The students visited the Sacre Coeur Basilica, climbing its 220 steps to enjoy the stunning views of Paris.
The tour continued with a visit to the Notre Dame Cathedral, where students admired its architecture from the outside due to ongoing restrictions. The group also experienced the Paris Metro, including a brief evacuation at one station, before heading to the Montparnasse Tower for panoramic views of the city. A river cruise along the Seine provided further opportunities to see Paris's landmarks, with our students enthusiastically waving to locals on the riverbank.
Day three was spent at Parc Asterix. After arriving and establishing meeting points, students enjoyed the park's rides and attractions, showcasing their school spirit in bright blue ‘Smurf’ hoodies. The day concluded with a visit to Disney Village for shopping and sightseeing, followed by a late-night return to the hotel.
The final day involved the journey back to Manchester. Delays at the checkpoint caused the group to miss their intended ferry, but they used the time for a coach quiz and celebrated the winners. After lunch on the ferry and the final coach ride, students arrived back at Chorlton High School around 11 pm, where they were greeted by their families.
The Paris Trip 2025 was a resounding success! School trips, especially international ones, require significant organisation and preparation. However, the 50 students who joined this Parisian adventure were phenomenal. They proved to be fantastic ambassadors and role models for our school, exemplifying kindness, gratitude, compassion, and understanding as they supported and cared for one another throughout the trip.
Staff noted their mature approach, willingness to follow instructions, and consistent punctuality. Even when unforeseen circumstances required adjustments to the itinerary, the students demonstrated exceptional understanding.
Every student on this trip should be extremely proud of their exemplary behaviour.
