This wek’s Year 7 assembly was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate how well they settled into our school community. We reminded them that our goal is for every student to be Successful, Creative, and Happy, and that a huge part of that is feeling a sense of connection. Our school is a vibrant Community of Belonging, and each one of them is at the heart of it.
The assembly highlighted the importance of building an inclusive community. We spoke about the 9 Protected Characteristics (A person's Age, Disability, Gender Reassignment, Marriage and Civil Partnership, Pregnancy and Maternity, Race, Religion or Belief, Sex, and Sexual Orientation) and the UN's #NoToHate campaign, reminding students that it's vital to respect everyone's unique identity. This is a crucial part of our community, where we all look out for one another.
The assembly also focused on Year 7s charity project for the year. We launched a campaign to help homeless people, emphasising that being a part of our community means we look out for each other, both inside and outside the school gates.
