Academic Excellence - and so much more...

20th Aug 2026

Among this year’s outstanding achievements is Nusayba Kutthan, who has achieved an exceptional 10 grade 9s across her GCSEs.

While this is a remarkable academic achievement, it is only one part of what makes her such a special member of the Chorlton High community. Nusayba is without doubt one of the most humble and hardworking students ever.

Throughout her time at the school, she has been a remarkable student leader, playing an active role in shaping school life, while also being known by those around her as an exceptionally kind, supportive and loyal friend. Beyond her academic success and throughout her time at Chorlton High School she has she has actively enriched the wider school community through her involvement in student leadership and enrichment activities. She has worked to capture student voice and then represented the views of her peers with confidence, and integrity, ensuring that perspectives are heard and where needed action taken. Often, she has led the response. In addition, she has acted as an excellent ambassador for the school speaking with visiting guests - everyone from residents to OFSTED Inspectors offering honest, thoughtful and sharp responses.

Her work on the Eco Councill has had a lasting impact both in school and locally where she and her peers helped promote sustainability initiatives and encouraged positive environmental action within the school and in her local area – working with a LA research team looking at improving Chorlton’s environmental footprint. In addition, she has also played an important role in our hate crime awareness events, demonstrating her commitment to equality, inclusion, and respect for others, working with peers to deliver assemblies, organise the Iftar as well as taking part in the Pride and Belong festival – annual events that celebrate the schools community.

Nusayba epitomises a joy for learning and a joy for life even at such a young age and she will leave her mark like many others. As for the future ….. it’s not a surprise that she was voted ‘most likely to become Prime Minister’ by her peers and given her outstanding academic and personal qualities we will wait in anticipation.

Her achievement is a powerful example of what Chorlton High means by developing the whole young person. She has worked incredibly hard and shown extraordinary academic determination, but alongside that she has developed the confidence to lead, the creativity to contribute and the character to care about others.

Executive Headteacher Zoe Morris said:

“Nusayba is a brilliant example of why education must be about more than grades. Ten grade 9s is an extraordinary achievement and she should be immensely proud of it. But what makes us equally proud is the person behind those results.

“She has worked incredibly hard, but she has also led, contributed, supported her friends and made a real difference to our school community. That combination of academic excellence and character is exactly what we want for every young person who leaves Chorlton High.

“Young people in Manchester are something very special. They are ambitious, creative, diverse, resilient and full of ideas. When we give them the knowledge, confidence and opportunities to flourish, the future is incredibly promising. We are very lucky to be educating the young people who will help shape that future.”
